Polished plate/sheet VS rough plate/sheet

1.Similarity

a. Both the polished quartz plate and the rough quartz plate are transparent, and the difference between them cannot be distinguished by the naked eye.

b. Both the polished quartz plate and the rough quartz plate are JGS2.

2. Difference

a. The UV transmittance of the polished plate can reach about 85% at 265nm wavelength.（refer to the green line in below picture）But for rough plate, the UV transmittance will be lower. For example, with 2mm thickness of rough plate, the UV transmittance at 265nm wavelength will be 65%-75%.

b. The flatness of the rough quartz plate is not as good as the polished quartz plate. It cannot be felt by the naked eye and hand. But the transmittance will be reduced by refraction, it also explained why lower UV transmittance for rough plate.
